I TOKYODEAFLYMPCSGenerally, sports cheering relies heavily on voice and hearing - sound. In the world of “deaf sports” for deaf and hard of hearing athletes, the means for spectators to deliver support to athletes has been limited.Marking the th anniversary milestone of the Deaflympics, Tokyo has developed “Cheer Signs” with a team centred on deaf people, working together with deaf athletes.Created so that all people - hearing and deaf alike - can convey their feelings to deaf athletes, Cheer Signs is based on the physical sensibilities of people who perceive the world through vision and Japanese Sign Language.Cheer Signs is based on Japanese Sign Language, combining multiple movements with the following basic elements:Please scan the QR code to see these basic element movements.Let’s cheer on deaf athletes with Cheer Signs at the venues!●Go! (Energizing cheer)●You can do it! (Encouraging cheer)●Grab the Medal! (Aim for the medal cheer(Japan version))*”Go!”, “You can do it!” etc. are simply names we have given them and do not directly indicate the meaning of Japanese Sign Language.Basic element videos here“Visual cheering” for deaf athletesCheer Signs
