On the Occasion of the TOKYO 2025 DEAFLYMPICS
Message
Hello, everyone.
I’m HISAMATSU Mitsuji, Chairperson of Organising Committee of 2025 Summer Deaflympics.
In November, we will hold TOKYO 2025 DEAFLYMPICS— international multi-sport event for deaf athletes.
This will be the first Deaflympics held in Japan, and this event will be a memorable event marking the 100th anniversary of the first Deaflympics.
TOKYO 2025 DEAFLYMPICS have three Visions:.
1. Connect people and society through the brilliance and values of deaf sports
2. TOKYO 2025 DEAFLYMPICS have three Visions:.
3. Realise an inclusive society where “everyone can make the most of their individuality and exert their abilities”
We hope the Deaflympics will help society to better understand deafness, sign language, and deaf sports.
We also aim for an inclusive society where diverse people respect and support each other, regardless of disability, gender, or nationality.
The Deaflympics are four months away!
We look forward to meeting athletes from around the world.
Emblem of the Games
Message
Hello.
I’m HISAMATSU Mitsuji, Chairperson of Organising Committee of 2025 Summer Deaflympics.
Today, I’ll talk about the emblem of TOKYO 2025 DEAFLYMPICS.
This emblem was created by a student at National University Corporation Tsukuba University of Technology — the unique Japanese university for deaf and blind students.
The emblem’s theme is a “circle,” meaning the connection between people. In Japanese it’s called “wa”.
The design features a “hand,” representative symbol of the deaf community.
The emblem shows people talking about the games and Deaflympic topics.
It also symbolizes mutual exchange and communities, gradually connecting with each other like a “circle.”
The expanded circle will bloom new “flowers” for future. The motif of the flower is cherry blossom, a symbol of Japan. In Japanese it’s called “Sakura”.
As the Games draw near, we have more chances to see this emblem.
It makes me so happy.
I would be grateful if you will take notice of the emblem, too.
