Unique Aspects of Deaf Sports
Basketball is a sport with thrilling, fast-paced development and powerful plays, where individual skills and teamwork merge exquisitely. In addition to techniques like dribbling and shooting, strategic formations and split-second decisions determine victory, creating excitement that draws viewers in. The sport also offers spectacular moments where players’ physical abilities - jumping power and reflexes - are directly reflected, with dunks and blocks being particularly thrilling.
The unique highlight of deaf basketball is the elegant passing created through hand sign and gesture instructions. Please pay special attention to this.
Additionally, since deaf athletes cannot hear or find it hard to hear referees’ whistles and buzzers, this Games will install LED lamps on basketball goal supports and in front of the table officials’ area, lighting them in sync with sounds to provide visual Information & Communication Accessibility.
