Basketball
Overview
- A team of five players compete against another to score by passing and dribbling a ball and putting it into the other team’s goal.
- The game is composed of four 10-minute quarters for a total of 40 minutes.
Features as deaf sport
In the case of deaf athletes, they cannot hear the referee’s whistle signalling fouls during the game, or the sound of the timer.
Thus, such information is conveyed through visual means.
For example, a person called a flagman stands at the edge of the court. Their role is to wave a flag when the whistle or buzzer is sounded to keep the players on the court and on the bench informed.
