Unique Aspects of Deaf Sports

Referees and assistant referees may shake the net to alert players to fouls and instructions. Sign language interpreters may be positioned courtside to interpret when referees need to communicate something.

Just 2 players per team on a wide court. Sand underfoot. Wind greatly affects the ball.

Therefore, strong physical conditioning, unwavering mental strength, exquisite offense-defence dynamics, and the ability to read and use wind are crucial.

Last-second diving digs, powerful 1-on-1 blocks, deceptive shots - the sand court and 2-player format create plays full of appeal different from indoor volleyball.
