Overview

  • Athletes compete to get a ball into a hole with the fewest number of strokes.
  • One round is composed of 18 holes, with players playing four rounds of 72 holes.
  • Players are allowed a maximum of 14 clubs as their equipment to hit the ball.

Features as deaf sport

The rules of golf are established by The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews (R&A) based in Scotland, and the United States Golf Association (USGA) based in New Jersey in the United States. The Deaflympic golf competition follows these same rules.
When play must be suspended due to danger such as lightning, or when play is about to resume, players are usually informed by sound, such as a blast from a whistle. However, deaf athletes are kept informed through different means, such as the use of flags and other visual signals.
